LuLu Lemon

I stood in line with Paulette last night for an hour and a half, only to get halfway to the door and told to go home because they were not letting anyone else in. For one, I don’t know what Lululemon is, I don’t follow brand names. Then out of the goodness of my sunny heart I stood to support Paulette as she “needed” to get in there.

In the end we left, nowhere near the door, we drove away defeated. Then we went to Wal-mart.

Happy Birthday Karen

My little Care Bear has turned 10 today. My beautiful baby is another year older, and I will say that for someone as young at 10, she sure has the personality and attitude of a teenager.

Have a wonderful day my love!

Garden Plot #10

So my garden was a little neglected while I was gone and to tell you the truth it’s a little sad looking. Since I picked all the black radishes, the lettuce is gone from some muncher, and the peas have all but died. I have only my tomatoes, a few onions and a few large sunflowers. I do still have a few bean plants that are trying their hardest to survive.

I did notice that the sunflowers have some sort of little worm looking thing and it's eating it like crazy. I don't know what it is...

Plants at home are doing well, loaded with little tomatoes and the lettuce is sprouting like mad.

Our First Trip Without the Kids!!!

So Joe and I left the kids home and off we went. We stopped in Moose Jaw, Medicine Hat, spent our first night in Strathmore. Off to Calgary we went. We stayed in Calgary for two nights, met with Ernie and his family. Uncle JR cooked us a lovely supper and it was great. Went to the Zoo, the tower and seen a lot of homeless people. We went to Crossroads Market, at first it just looked like a produce market until you entered the warehouse part. It was filled with little shops, everything from meat to designer bags. There were street performers outside. We met one man who bought every single piece of beadwork from me. I was so glad I had taken it. Every person that we did meet in Calgary was so nice, from the parking guy to the peddler.

Off to Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, we stayed one night in Rocky Mountain House. We went to check out the Spray River in Canmore and the road leading up the mountain was terrifying. The water was so blue, it was gorgeous. We seen mountain goats, an elk, 6 eagles and a bear.

Off to Edmonton, through Red Deer and spent a night with my sister Patreece in Edmonton. We checked out the bars on Whyte Avenue, went through West Edmonton Mall. We even went to the Fringe Festival. I can say that Edmonton was not nearly as nice as Calgary.

Off the next day to Lloydminster and spent a night with my dad and his girlfriend Bonnie. We got home the next day around 9:00 pm.

So Glad to be home!

My visit with my sister and my dad was great. I must say that my dad looks so happy with Bonnie, and he is even kinda silly. I really enjoyed it, now my next visit will have include my brother Caylum and my sister Georgette. Fingers crossed and hopes are high!

Returning to normal…..

Well after my lonely few days my kids are back and I even gained a couple for a few days. So my life is back to normal and even though it’s a little messier and a little more chaotic I am so glad to have them all home.

And I think I was busier then ever, housework, laundry, dishes, supper and kids, I was still able to make part of a necklace.

The summer storms are wicked this summer and those high winds did some damage to my tomato plants. I found one nearly bent right over, I don’t think it did too much damage since the lovely green globes are still hanging on.

Empty House

I have noticed that this summer was the first summer that the kids have been away the most. So last night I sat home alone while Joey is out with his friends, Juhnea is with her dad at the farm, Karen with her Auntie Terri and Joe at work. I noticed how quiet and still the house was. I have decided that I don’t like it, I don’t like it one bit. I realize that Joey will be home for at least another year. One by one they will be leaving me, and it saddens me.

However, let me tell you the chores that I got done. I made a Lemon Meringue Pie, did laundry, the dishes, made three necklaces and a pair of earrings. I even watched Canadian Idol. I was in bed and dreaming of sugar plums by 10:45…

Dirty Pretty Things Giveaway

I entered a give-away from http://ravenxxxx.blogspot.com/ and I won! I won a zippered pouch and a tissue holder. I received them on Friday and they are absolutely lovely. I was so excited that I won, and then when the package came in the mail it was like Christmas morning and let me tell you I ripped that envelope open. Thank you to http://theseawithin.etsy.com/ check out her website to see all her awesome creations.

Care Bear’s Garden

I went to the garden with my mom and Paulette. We checked on my tomatoes and onions…Picked all the yucky black radishes, which I don’t like and won’t be planting next year. My tomatoes at home that I started from seed are full of tiny green tomatoes…I am so happy!! I still have plans for making some salsa, since I am new at this it should be an adventure. My son Joey, loves salsa, so I hope it turns out.

Jewelry Crafts

I managed to make a few things for my sale next weekend. I am so busy right now trying to keep up with the orders for the Roughriders necklaces and earrings. I even had to meet a couple at Tim Hortons and lay out my goods on the back of her car. It was a good contact though, since she’ll be advertising for me.

I am setting up another artisan booth at a conference for Missing Women: Desalinization, Third Wave Feminisms and Indigenous People of Canada and Mexico. I am pretty excited for this one.

Storms

Holy crap, you should have seen the storm last night. We had to drive through part of it and it was scary. The lightening, though I don’t like it, it was brilliant. There was not a whole lot of wind, lots of rain, the ditches were full.

Buffalo Days 2008

Well another year of the Regina Exhibition is over and done with. Let me tell you that this year was by far the best. I went on most of the rides, and even when on the Crazy Mouse rollercoaster. For those who know me, I don’t do roller coasters. I spent the first two days with Karen and my niece Taylor. My mom and dad even came out to take a walk and spend some money. Geri also came to keep me company…

Then the day came that Joe and I got to go……..without kids. We enjoyed a few of the bands and lounged in the hot sun under the protection of the umbrellas and my thirst quenched by ice cold beers. I watched and listened to The Trews and Weird Al Yankovic.

It was so fun, I can’t wait until next year. I absolutely love the rides and can’t wait to take another spin on the Scorpion.
