Holy Tomatoes!!

I took my mom to see my garden on the weekend and it’s loaded with tomatoes. It’s covered with green tomatoes…and the peas, oh my, the peas are so tasty. I am pretty proud of this garden and I am hooked. Garden’s every year!!
Caribbean Festival

My table at the Caribbean festival was a good one! It was so nice to sit out in the park for most of the day and listen to the music and watch the performers. I had taken Karen and Ray-dean and we had such a good time.

My dad and mom showed up, Paulette and Christian came. I took the kids to get our faces painted and it was a blast.

I was very thankful Joe came to sit with me for the later half of the day…

POW-WOW

Joe and I also went to a pow-wow this weekend and set up a table. I got a nasty sunburn on my neck and shoulder. Seen a whole lot of people that I hadn’t seen in years. My sales were pretty good and it was a good day spent.

It was a busy weekend and I am super tired. I am even a little crabby, I need to get a couple hours of sleep and I am sure I will be like brand new.

I have Peas...

I checked on the garden today as I was worried last night's hail would have pummeled my garden into the dirt. However, as I walked closer I noticed that it was still standing and there were stakes in my garden for the peas...and what did I spy. Peas, and my sunflowers are flowering. I am sooo excited.

Still no lettuce, darn rodents. I do see my onions are getting fatter and fatter. Lots of flowers on my tomatoes.

Awesome Weekend.

We had an awesome weekend. Firstly we went and checked my garden…all well there.

We decided that we would buy some fishing rods, one for Joe, one for me and then one for Karen. When we did finally leave Regina and were driving down to Craven, we noticed the clouds. Pretty dark and probably going to rain, but we plodded on. We did get to have a few casts each and then it started to lightening right above us…so we went home.

Next day we picked up mom to come and fish with us…After fishing for about an hour Joe was giving us 10 more minutes, he caught a fish…his first fish of the season. He was so excited, and I was excited for him.

I didn’t do a lot of beading this weekend. I more or less did house stuff…which is good, cause who doesn’t like a clean house?

Vernessa and Eric moving this weekend, and she fell and broke her arm. Poor lady! :(

Yay! It's Friday...

I am almost finished my beaded pair of baby boots. So far they look pretty. I even made little beaded flowers at the ends of the shoe laces. I am actually pretty impressed with them, they are pretty darn cute.

I was in a pretty miserable mood for a bit last night. I hate those. I needed to just relax and let things blow by…I needed to put my troubles in a bubble and blow.

Joe got off early and we went to get some fish from Walmart. The fish guy had some problems catching the fish. He ended up dropping and almost stepping on one of the sharks. I had to leave…I could hear Joe telling him that it was fine and that he dropped his fish before and they were fine. So hopefully he felt better…I just couldn’t watch him stir up the aquariums trying to scoop the fish up.

My garden, Geri and I went to weed it at lunch yesterday. There were a lot of weeds, and I thankfully didn’t pull all the black radishes. They are pretty big. So it’s weeded and looking pretty. My one tomato is still there and it’s getting big.

I wonder what the weekend has in store for me…

Something ate my lettuce...

Well I had a wonderful, tiring night last night. The girls and I went to babysit Christian, and wow he is full of energy. We went to the park, a long walk and he was still ready to run. Karen had a good time playing with Christian and Juhnea spent most of her time on the computer. I cooked and watched and played. It was a great night. He is always fun to be with. I don’t know how Paulette does it…I don’t remember it being so tiring. I took tons of pictures.

So I went to check on my garden and some nasty little something ate all my lettuce, right down to the soil. It’s gone, all of it, but the roots. It’s kinda disappointing, but at least I planted some at home and that is doing well. I see I didn’t pull all the black radishes, which I am thankful for. I have to go back tonight to stalk my tomatoes and maybe even get some of my peas off the ground.

Sales, coupons, movies and gifts...

I found the best bead kit; I had a coupon for 40% off any regular priced item….found a whole case of beads, pliers, and everything you need to make necklaces and rings. Michael’s is my new favourite store. I did notice that it is pretty expensive, and some of the cases there are the same cases you can find at some dollar stores. But my eyes are still in awe with the rainbow of colors that were included in the kit. And the pliers, well these jewelry pliers even had the crimp part; none of my other three pairs have that.

My sister Paulette came over and surprised Joey with a Hurley sweater that he absolutely loves. I got two pairs of cute canvass shoes. She loves me…and I love her, especially when she comes bearing gifts...hee hee

It was a good night, when Joe got off work we rented National Treasure with Nicholas Cage and watched it with the kids. It was a nice night.

All other happenings…

Well I must say I am a little disappointed in my self for not going to my garden this weekend. I know it needs to be weeded, but it rained most the weekend. I did do some weeding in the plants I have at home. I even gave my mom my very first harvest from my potted plants. She took home a bag of lettuce, onion and a radish. I had a radish and the little sucker was hot.

I spied flowers on all my tomato and pepper plants. I am so very excited with my plants this year. I hope my garden at the university is doing well, since I have only been out there once last week.

My sister Paulette and I drove my son out to Craven for the Country Jamboree. I hope he had fun, I still haven’t seen him since Saturday. I trust his friends are taking good care of him and each other. They are a great bunch of kids. It was kinda funny cause Paulette would not leave him at the gates and had to wait for his friends to come and pick him up. Plus she questioned the security to find out how many people were working and how fast any emergency calls were responded to. I thought I worried. She is a good auntie, and my kids love her dearly…

I started a pair of beaded baby shoes. I don’t know how they will turn out since I am not too impressed with my color choice, but I thought I would finish them anyways since I already had them started. Hopefully I can get those done tonight.

Well our friends and neighbours are moving out next door…they should be moved out this week sometime. I hope the new neighbours are going to be good ones…

Happy Birthday Juhnea!! My beautiful daughter has turned 15. Have a happy day my love.

It's hard to believe how fast they grow. Juhnea especially, she has turned into quite the little lady.

Favorite Tree

I don’t know if I had ever mentioned that I have a favourite tree. Well I drive by it usually once or twice a week. It’s knarled and crooked, the branches are awfully weird, but it has a dragon shape to it. I see a dragon when I look at it and I like it. Anyways, here is the tree, and then below is the same picture, but in the way I see it. I bet the people who own the property are just as in love with this tree as I am.

For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver. ~~ Martin Luther ~

Do you see the dragon? How pretty is that?

Cranky Pants!!

Wow, I was in a super cranky mood last night. I even had to go and lie down for a bit to try and shake the mood. No help, I dropped Karen off with her dad at work and off I went to Paulette’s to vent some of the hot air that I was full of. A good talk and a couple beer later I felt a whole lot better. So when I got home this time I was in a better mood. I had to apologize cause I really felt bad for my stink attitude. My sunshine was no where to be found. However, I do feel better now and I am feeling so much brighter. All is better and I am forgiven…

Needless to say I didn’t do a whole lot…

Another beautiful Tuesday!

I had a lazy night last night, it was so nice. I didn’t do a whole lot, I did manage to finish a whopping 7 necklaces, the pendants I had made earlier. I am liking the finished masterpieces.

I spy flowers on my tomato plants. So far my garden at the university has one tomato on it. None at home, but I have onions coming out left and right, and radishes are great. I am a little disappointed with the black radishes, I may have confused weeds for the plants, cause they are far and few between, lots of unused space. Lettuce at the garden plot is very sporadic and thin, at home, coming up in bunches.

Other than that, it’s been a quiet start to the week. Check out this awesome quote that I read.

I just never let anything bother me, man. I know myself really well. Nobody's opinion of me can shake my opinion of myself. ….Ruben Studdard

It’s been a whirlwind…

Well I have been battling laryngitis for over a week now and completely lost my voice for a few days. Things are starting to look up for me. My voice is slowly starting to come back with some crackles here and there. I felt like Ariel when the wicked serpent witch stole her beautiful voice and put it in a shell…

I have been busy working on some necklaces. I made a really cool Charlie Brown pendant, and even some Archie Andrews and Betty ones. I will take a picture once I have those all done.

I went for a bike ride with Paulette, my nephew Christian, my neiceTaylor and Karen. Let me tell you that I almost didn’t make it back... I was tempted to call Joe to come and pick us up. We went for a long ride, and it was hot. But I was glad we went, we had a picnic in the park, and even cooled off in the Waterfall. I of course, was looking so stylish with my Hot Wheels back pack. We are going to try and do that once a week, on Sundays. I’m sure it will get easier, my legs felt all jiggly when I got off that bike.
Then Joe and I took Taylor home to Balcarres, we stopped at Katepwa Beach and flopped around in the water for a bit. It was a really fun. Karen and Taylor had a good time, and I took many pictures. The Saskatoon berries are not quite ready, maybe in a week they will be good to pick. I spied a few good bushes for us to pick at and hopefully I can try my hand at jam…
